Certified vs. legal translation — what's the difference?
Certified translation is about authority acceptance — a translator sworn before a German court certifies the document so an official body will accept it. Legal translation is about subject-matter precision — a linguist specialising in legal language gets the terminology and meaning right. A contract you're negotiating usually needs legal translation. A contract you're submitting to a court or registry may need both. If you're not sure which applies, tell us and we'll advise before you order.

Legal documents are handled under the same confidentiality posture as everything else we translate — a defined retention and deletion schedule, and an NDA available on request for documents that require one. We don't claim a guarantee no agency can honestly make; what we commit to is a stated process — subject-matter linguists, terminology consistency, and a second set of eyes on Professional-tier orders — and we'll tell you plainly if a document's stakes suggest the Professional tier is the right call.
