What happens if my document is rejected?

If the rejection is because of an error on our side — wrong format, an incorrect certification statement, a translation mistake — we redo and re-certify it free of charge. If the rejection is for a reason unrelated to the translation (for example, the authority also wanted an apostille we weren't told about), we'll help you sort out what's actually needed, and only charge for the additional work.

Do I need to send you the original document?

No. A clear scan or phone photo is enough for us to translate and certify. You keep your original.

Will a digital (PDF) certified translation be accepted, or do I need paper?

Most German authorities now accept a digitally signed and sealed PDF. Some — particularly courts and some Standesämter — still expect a physical sealed copy. If you're not sure, tell us which authority it's for and we'll confirm before you order; you can also order the sealed hard copy alongside the PDF to be safe.

Can you translate a document into a language other than German?

Yes — certified translation works both directions and beyond the EN⇄DE pair; other language pairs carry a +€15.00 adjustment. Tell us the pair when you order.

What 'sworn' or 'beeidigt' actually means

In Germany, a certified translation is produced and signed by a translator who has been sworn in before a German court (a beeidigter/ermächtigter Übersetzer). That sworn status, combined with the translator's certification statement, seal and signature on the document, is what German public authorities, courts, registry offices and universities look for when they ask for a "certified" or "sworn" translation. We work with translators holding this authorisation for the language pairs and document types we certify — so the translation you receive carries what the receiving office needs to see, not just a claim that it's accurate.
